Bondo Built
США
Добавлен 1 апр 2019
Hi guys my name is Ron Bond. You can call me Bondo. I built this channel to share my knowledge of construction. I have 35 years experience in the residential construction industry. I do a lot of videos on every aspect of doing concrete work. We pour floors do stamped concrete build house and garage foundations with Nudura ICF blocks. We also do most of our own excavation work. I have a Kubota back hoe Yanmar mini excavator and a mini Bobcat track loader as well as a tracked concrete buggy. Through the years I have developed many time saving tips and tricks that I would like to share with you. I live in Upstate New York so we don't do concrete in the winter much. During the winter I'm making videos on fixing up the houses that I buy to restore. I usually fix up a house every two years and then rent it out or sell it. I am an insulation junkie so I like making videos to teach people how to make their house more energy efficient.
Fox Blocks crawl space Foundation Part 1
This is how you start an ICF foundation for a crawl space for a small house or camp or cabin. We use Fox Blocks for this one but you could use any Insulated Concrete Forms you wanted in the same manor.

MONO POUR!! Small ICF Fox blocks foundation.

We saved this customer from not getting there project done on time. We do small jobs as well as the big ones. My own system to do MONOPOUR was the key to getting this done on time.
using a power trowel to help with a broom finish.

We poured a big concrete apron on this pole barn. The customer wanted a broom finish and we used a power trowel and knee sliders to prepare the surface for the broom.
ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER ON A 5000 SQ. FOOTER!!!!

It started from the beginning when the grade was wrong then I was short handed by 2 guys. Trucks were early ,and to top it off it rained that day. I made some quick decisions on this one. How did I do?
How to make your own concrete. NOT QUICKCRETE!!!!
Просмотров 25 тыс.28 дней назад
We are building a monolithic slab for a new garage build. We had to lay 2 courses of blocks on top of the slab. We made our own concrete with our concrete mixer for the core fill. We find that quickcrete is not a good concrete mix for our harsh New York weather. It never seems to hold up as good as if you make your own concrete.
Load bearing concrete slab

On this job the customer wanted to put a roof system over our concrete slab so we thickened up the edges and reinforced them with rebar so he could land his load bearing posts on the outside anywhere he needed to to support the roof. He was quite happy with how it turned out.
What does leave the concrete FUZZY MEAN?

We learned a tough lesson while pouring this big basement floor.
Просмотров 17 тыс.Месяц назад
We were hired to pour this big basement floor. The house was set on top so we had many challenges to get the concrete in there and even more problems with heat and ventalation when we got into finishing the floor. 2 of the guys got sick from bad ventilation and excessive heat. We all learned something that day and that is why we pour the floors before the house is set on it.
Weird insulation detail? Or just a smart idea?

We poured this garage floor for a repeat customer and they spray foamed under the floor and inside the concrete blocks. I never seen anyone spray foam the cells of the blocks like that but what a good idea. They also spray foamed the floor inside ther crawl space instead of pouring a concrete floor saving a bunch of money.
Concrete prep with a mini skid steer!!

I am trying out a Wacker SM 100 mini skid steer /Dingo before I get my Wacker SM 120. I hope this thing will be worth the money and fit into our concrete business.
You never seen this finish before !!

We poured out an exterior concrete slab for some friends and they wanted it to be a totally non slip surface but they did not want it to be broomed. We did this swirl mag finish as we named it. We did this same finish on a car wash before and it keeps the surface of the concrete open so it will handle the freeze thaw cycles we have here in Central New York State. It also is a surface that is sa...

We are prepping and pouring a concrete garage floor and the wind and rain are not helping us get this floor done. We had a few tricks up our sleeve though.
Does the wire stay up when pulled?

I finally show some proof to end the wire mesh debate!! When we pour concrete and pull the wire mesh up and then walk all over it does it stay where we want it?

Not sure why you're not using Heat Sheet by Logix, unless you've never heard of it. You can get different R values at 2/3rds the cost of polystyrene. It's made to hold Pex, interlocks, and you just walk on the Pex and it snaps in place. Way faster to install, cheaper to purchase and savings on labor. You also never specify which Pex you are using. I use Pex Al, with an aluminum barrier that prevents oxygen intrusion and rusting components with better heat dissipation. Loop Cad is a program that will lay out the most efficient runs while keeping them as close to the same length as possible, costs a few $$$ but does the work for you. Lastly, a 500 foot run is ridiculous for efficient heat transfer. Your clients are spending more on heating the floor evenly and the cost to replace a 3 speed pump is a lot more than a standard one. Sure you'll get the job with a better price for less runs, but they, and you, don't know how much more they are paying in the long run. Buy once, cry once.
Is this the pour you guys did while drinking Bud Light? 😂🤣 It looks like you spilt your Beers 🤣🇺🇸🤘
Just whining butt holes
Here in California I have one rule for customers. Don’t work for Armenians! It’s almost like there culture is meant to rip people off cause they all do it! 6 years in biz and only happened 2 times where customers didn’t want to pay one of them still owes my 5k to this day! Literally locked up the property and ignored my calls. Both customers were Armenian/ middle eastern!
ya but what about that wire lol
Love the rebar caps. Also, you guys mentioned a full house out of ICF. Jesse Muller on RUclips did a whole build of his house out of ICF
how about building a wood boiler video ?????
These people were just looking for a reason to complain. Had you cut the lines he'd have complained the scoring was too deep, or not deep enough. Apart from marking a floor plan, popping lines, literally writing on ghe floor...wtf else does this guy need to understand where his pads are?
If you are concerned with subterranean termintes, the parge coat should overlap the waterproofing membrane coating by a few inches. In this video, there was very little overlap and in a few spots I saw bare foam. Those bare spots will be below grade and will provide a path for termites to enter the foam without having to expose themselves above ground. You want full coverage below grade to force the termites to build visible mud tunnels on the parge coat so that you know you have an infestation. What I saw done was the waterproofing went 6 inches above final grade and the parging went 6 inches below grade, creating an overlap of 1 foot. Even if you don't have the subterranean termites in your area, the overlap would be better waterproofing against water pudding at the grade level.✌️
Great videos. Thanks
Your Rebar Caps actually do the job 😅
Hey Bondo, I’m an icf dealer looking to network some product in your area, do you have an email I can get in contact with you by?
For got the @bondo built

Since the wall isn’t actually waterproofed. It really needs water impermeable dimble barrier. That runner will fail, even in that rain the water would have went down to drain. Gravel all the way to within a foot or two of surface is ideal. Ice has more pressure if it’s 20 degrees.
The ability to persevere in the face of adversity distinguishes those who achieve their goals from those who stumble along the way. Well done Bondo
Had they got you from the start, I bet this would have gone A LOT smoother. 👍🏻
👏👏👍👍
How much for that?? Looking to do the same thing in upstate N.Y
Good work!
Ain't nuthin hard when you know what you're doin
🎉 I would have used zip strip
Or make 2 pours and checker board it
Don’t know how many time I saw him shake off foam snot and immediately step on it. I hate getting that foam on my boots.
Never work for friends or relatives trust me it doesn’t work
Great example project for what I'm trying to do. Thanks for posting. Good luck with Clifford.
Looks great! Did you decide not to include knee braces for a certain reason? I thought they strengthened the timber frame?
Drum brakes give the moving parts of the braking system some protection against the spray of water and dirt from the front tires, disk brake calipers are a lot more exposed, so rear calipers are much more prone to failure. Most likely your caliper's piston got stiff from corrorsion, which caused it to drag, (which is less noticeable on the back because a front one will make it pull to one side) the heat from being partially applied all the time boiled the fluid and then cooked off the seals, causing it to puke fluid when the brakes were applied.
Is this technically called a rat slab since it's a poured crawl space? Any downsides or extra long-term mitigations needed?
I think “rat-slab” refers to a thinner layer (1 or 2 inches) poured in to prevent burrows but isn’t meant to be structural. So it is defined by type of floor, not location of floor. What they’re installing is a full on floor slab.
The first time I watched a Slab pour that wasn't on HGTV you gave me some ideals about what to do and watch for on my first home-build slab burning thanks for the term
LISTEN THIS IS KAMALA HARRIS - and I can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch ANYHOW ! Safety is only as good as your FOX block glue. If the glue is not as good then your FOX is not gonna be glued and that's bad.. When it's bad that's not good so you wanna be good and make use the glued block is done not bad but good. Just incase your wanna be good..
Hey Bondo love your videos. Can you pour a stem wall 2-3 ft tall, backfill, pour the floor then keep going up?
Love the rebar safety caps!
Trades are great just seems I’m always on short side
I can tell them boys know those safety & security things! They no playing around with thems!

Fuck did I laugh when you showed those vice grips! Do what you gotta do! I’ve pinched off a line on pickup one time, more then an hour from home. Thanks for the video. Lmafo!
LMAO yup it got me home LOL 🤣😂
Looks so good!!
Thanks Chip.
Beer cans really. Not a good look yo. Very unprofessional for sure.
The home owner loved it. Life is to short to not have some fun. Most people get a good laugh out of it.
I wish my crawl space was a slab. I also wish I don't literally have to crawl in it.
Ya I'll bet.
Is #2 anything like 57’s(river rock)? Thank you
I am not sure about that. " 2 is just 2" or smaller stone.
Thanks for replying
Hi Is this a frost protected footer ? If not, what is your frost depth? Thanks
It is not. Our frost line is 48" deep.
That is from finished grade wherever that ends up?
Nice ear protection
Crazy impressive how fast your crew knocks that job out! Clifford getting some TLC. 😀!
Thanks yup Clifford needed some work for sure.
